Cross Country Canada Directives
This year Cross Country Canada issued new guidelines to all registered clubs that have to be adhered to in order that the clubs are covered by Cross Country Canada’s liability insurance.
Our club realized the importance of these new steps and twelve of our instructors/coaches received a letter in early December outlining the new guidelines.
The mandatory guidelines state that instructors fulfill the following – A Criminal Record Check, a Child Abuse Registry Check and as a minimum coaching requirement complete the Community Coaching course on-line if they have not already taken one.
The purpose of the new regulations is to protect children in sports from sexual abuse and to help insure instructors/coaches have at least a minimum level of training. In addition, the club has been told that in the near future these regulations will become a requirement for government funding in all sports organizations.
