2021 General Info/Trail Reports

Our intention, providing the weather and conditions permitting, is to extend the season beyond our scheduled closing date and into April.

29th March 2021

After a  fabulous winter North Highlands Nordic is officially closed for the season.

Thank you to our dedicated volunteers, members, guests and  community.

The current conditions show a 10 cm base, 15 mm of rain, warmer temperatures and gusty winds. NHN has decided to cease grooming operations for the remainder of this season as the longterm forecast indicates mild rainy weather and we await repairs to our groomer.

Contact NHN at nhn@xcski.ca

E-transfer payments to nhn@xcski.ca  State on payment that it is for passes or rentals and for which date to be used.

Parking and access to our trail system will now be from our new site. Blue Groomer Building on the left hand side of driveway up to the Community Centre. Thank you.

If you need to send us a message at any time, please email us at: nhn@xcski.ca rather than a Facebook message. We will check the emails between 9am and 4:30 pm daily.

All trail users will need to tell us in person or by email:  (nhn@xcski.ca) every day that they use the trails.

The only way to get your season pass for this winter is to go online to ZONE4                                  https://zone4.ca/register.asp?id=25008  to register.  Please let us know via email (nhn@xcski.ca) if you have any difficulties doing so.

We will operate  this winter out of the heated storage area in our new Groomer Building that will house ski rental equipment as well.

NORTH HIGHLANDS NORDIC CHALET BUILDING FUND                                After almost thirty-five years we, the members of North Highlands Nordic believe that the time is right to have a stand alone facility dedicated to cross country skiing and snowshoeing in northern Cape Breton. A new Chalet will offer a wonderful winter destination in northern Cape Breton and a much needed “winter social hub” for the community. NHN already boasts over ten kilometres of scenic trails groomed expertly by a state of art Pisten Bulley grooming machine for classic and skate skiing and is open to the public every winter. Now we need a welcoming facility that we can all be proud of.

Presently we are applying for various government grants. Keeping this in

mind, North Highlands Nordic will have the potential to triple your

donation through our partnership with Nordiq Canada. We are soliciting

your help to make this dream a reality. Many people will benefit from your
