As the end of another ski season is upon us, I feel grateful for those who came before me, the trailblazers, the founders with a shared vision to raise awareness about the Cape Breton Highlands and to bring the sport to our region. With the success of a strong local ski racing team and their families, they were able to grow and promote cross country skiing in the Highlands.
North Highlands Nordic stems from their dedication and enthusiasm for the sport.
We now reap the benefits of their efforts and are truly fortunate to have this little slice of heaven in Cape North open to skiers of all ages and skills, snowshoers, the surrounding communities and visitors from all around Canada, the US and several other countries.
I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed, through the years, to the development and the day to day of what is now known as North Highlands Nordic Ski Resort.
Special thanks to Linda Murray and Sandra Curtis for the very à propos articles dating between 1997 to 2000 attached below.
